Called to order at 9:00 am, Adjourned at 9:55 am.

- Approval of Minutes
Sarah Motion to Approve, Emma Second. Passed unanimously.
- Principal's Update
*BV video: From Mr. Colburn “District asked to share video with staff & parent groups scheduled to meet in the building this month. The video reports declining enrollment across the state, which will affect school budgets. De Soto is the only district with increased enrollment. The state's measure spec ed differs from what the district says it needs. $10 mio budget shortfall. Variety of factors impacting enrollment in our area: the incoming 5th-grade class is smaller (the 2020 cohort is smaller due to redshirting, private school enrollment, and COVID-19). Neighborhoods are not turning over as quickly.“
Takeaway: Every building in Blue Valley will have a 10% budget cut.
February 1st is the deadline to announce teacher retirements.

Book Fair :) Rainy Day Books for the bookfair.
2/10 7:30 am - 3:30 pm,
2/11 7:30 am - 7:00 pm,
2/12 7:30 am - 12:00 pm.
Bookfair in the library during the day, then near the entrance or upper commons in the evening.
Book Fair Family Night 2/11, 5 pm-7 pm. Author visit: Sarah Henning & Brian Gordon. Authors provided by Rainy Day Books.
School gets 15% of sales. There will be a reduced amount of puzzles/journals/toys. Rainy Day provides staff, so no need for volunteers. Requesting PTO to help push on social media.
Other LMS Updates:
Boys Basketball and wrestling are in full swing.
Music competitions are coming up.
Conferences are next week, and enrollment info will go out next week.
LMS Nesting Day tentatively August 4th. (week of August 3rd), Staff returns August 7th.
- President's Report
- We could add to the family ambassador role to make a pto flyer to hand out to new families.
- Grant distribution - Jennifer gave them a check for the grants.
- Paid BVN Project Graduation, $500
- Messaged with Sean from 1st Day School Supplies, doesn’t seem like we entered a contract per his response, but we did sign an agreement in the fall and feel like we should honor 1 more year for 2026/7, then terminate partnership moving forward.
- Reached out to the toolkit help desk and got some info about the problems with the directory and ways to fix/improve next year. Kandi is working on this (Sarah O happy to help as well)
- Treasurer Report
- Tax filing complete
- 1099 issued to vendors, making plan for next year (updating notes)-update policy for service providers, $$ amt will change in 2026
- Vote to have CPA help us with 1099/tax filings/bank rec. (all in room agreed to it is valuable to have CPA prepare taxes/filings) Lori (CPA) charged us only $45 to prepare 1099 this year. Discussion: Need to add to by-laws to always use a CPA when filing taxes, etc.
- Switch to QuickBooks, Ashley will share about QuickBooks, moving away from toolkit, QuickBooks will make it faster/easier/reporting better.
- Financials

- Shirt (count, order, etc): Exact count not given but enough shirts are present for current 8th graders.
- Ticket cost: $35 - $45 per student, not finalized.
- Farewell gift ideas: Purchase new logo or spending the funds elsewhere,more to come.

- Staff Appreciation – Feb – conferences possibly Babas Pantry , Mar last STL (before SB), April CFA breakfast and coffee boxes/cart, May Teacher appreciation daily (pop & popcorn, catus grill *cinco de mayo*, lemonade bar and lemon bars/cookies, jimmy johns, bouquet with flowers/succulents and cookies. Last week of school Candy Bar.
- Student Appreciation – spring plans- donuts in feb
- Nominations – any update from committees (did not have discussion on slate, will circle back in March/April)
