LMS Exec PTO Meeting Minutes

October 2, 2025

 

Attendance:  Anne Dresie, Jana Mickey, Rene Barton,  Emma Benezette, Jennifer Truman, Sarah Olson, Kandi Jacobs

Anne called the meeting to order at 9:03 AM

  1. Approval of Minutes:
    1. Minutes approved

Principal’s Update

  • Red Card program – LMS was on the news last night about being a part of the Red Card program. We were one of 5 schools selected to be a part of this.  This is hosted by Red Card – Sporting KC and about bullying.
  • October is a busy month.
    • Eagle Fest
    • End of Volleyball / tournament at Blu Hawk.
    • End of Quarter / Professional Day
    • 1st Round of Musical concerts
    • End of month is conferences
  • Three Drives going on – Sock drive, Refugee drive, Musical is doing a food drive
  • Sports – We will have a wrestling team this year. Boys will be winter before holiday break, girls will be after holiday break.  Suzanne Rosell is the coach; she wrestled in college
  • Eagle time – They are available Monday – Thursday 3-4 PM in the library with teachers present.

 

President’s Update

  • Custodian Appreciation Day – This is today; we are giving gift cards and pizza for our great staff!
  • Communicated Principal’s Discretionary Fund expectations, still waiting to hear how to be used 
  • Review counselor needs and how to fund (through Princ. Dis. Funds)
  • Gift Card distribution added to bylaws, in lieu of individual birthday gifts (gift cards), funds will be used to celebrate all staff throughout the year
  • Review posting minutes, budget, etc online as stated in bylaws 
  • Removed club info from PTO website
  • Custodian Appreciation Day Oct. 2nd , QT gift cards delivered 


Treasurer Report – Jennifer/Ashley

  • Revisit fund allocation breakdown
  • Review standings

 

VP Communications – Emma B

  • Eagle Fest - Ready for Eaglefest. Exec needs to check in with Emma when they come on Tuesday, and will fill in open positions.  Need to find out if Chick-fil-A needs volunteers.  Jennifer is going to bring four cash boxes for Eaglefest.
  • New Students: There are 17; we need to reach out to ensure they are aware of the toolkit.

VP School and Community – Rene B

  • October: Consider setting up a coffee cart for next Friday, or we can do the Sunshine Cart instead.  Meals: We will be using Cactus Grill for the conference meal, which will be provided on October 23rd.    
  • November: Bundt cake and coffee trucks, along with donut delivery.
  • Student Appreciation: 
    • 6 $50/gift cards for the semester-ending pep assembly (12 total gift cards).
    • 1st Qtr: Full-sized candy going to students ($700 for 550 kids) as first quarter gift
    • 2nd Qtr: For water bottles ($300)
    • 3rd Qtr: Donuts for 3rd quarter: $850, exec asking committee to find a better price
    • 4th Qtr: Ice Cream after state testing, $450
  • Grants planning next month
  • Planters: Mums going in before ENO

 



 VP Ways and Means - Sarah O

  • ENO: Start sales/wristbands on 10/17. Fall Theme decided.
  • Community Fundraisers: 
  • Oct 27th ~ Dave’s Hot Chicken, 20% return
  • Nov 18th ~ Kendra Scott, 20% return, 48-hour online code.
  • School Supplies: Contract Signed
