LMS PTO EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING MINUTES

 

May2, 2023

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 9:10am.

 

In Attendance:  Laura Yount, Sarah McQueary, Jana Mickey, Gina Cohen, Roseann Morgan, Brittney Henderson, Melissa Corcoran and Michael Richards.

 

 

  1. Approval of Minutes
        • Jana motioned to approve the minutes from the March 2023 meeting.  Brittney seconded the motion.  All approved and the motion was passed.

 

  1. President’s Report-Laura Yount
          • Laura will be using her President’s Discretionary Fund to buy iced sugar cookies for the 6th and 7th graders on May 25th.  She will distribute at lunch while the 8th grade class is on their graduation outing.
          • Restaurant Nights will now be working with our feeder schools to plan larger restaurant night events.  They are doing this in hopes of getting a better turn out.
          • Spirit wear will now be run by BVN.  They will design it and sell it.  PTO/LMS will get a small kickback from all of the sales.  This will allow the LMS PTO to not have to keep an inventory of goods.

 

  1. Treasurer Report-Renee Rolle (Report given by Laura Yount)
        • Approval was needed for the 2023-24 budget. (See copy of proposed budget attached).  Roseann motioned to approve the 2023-24 budget and Gina seconded.  All approved and the motion was passed.

 

  1. VP Ways and Means-Gina Cohen

Eagle Night Out

          • ENO had 240 kids attend.  There needs to be more teachers and parents there to chaperone.  Next year PTO will offer the teachers an incentive to attend and chaperone—a $20 gift card. 

 

  1. VP School and Community-Shannon Fisher (Report given by Laura Yount)

Nominations

            • The 2023-24 slate needed to be approved.  (See copy of slate attached).  Gina motioned to approve the 2023-24 slate.  Jana seconded the motion.  All approved and the motion was passed.    

                                          

  1. VP Communications-Brittney Henderson
                • 8th Grade Graduation 
                  • The 8th grade class will be gifting a new flag to the school to hang in the gym.  The committee had talked about also providing a bench for the bus line to replace the old, rotting ones that are out there now.  However, the board feels like 1 class gift is sufficient.  PTO is talking with Melissa about replacing these benches. Laura will talk to Renee about how PTO can fund the bench. 
                  • The graduation committee will be setting up on 5/24 at 3pm for the ceremony and brunch.  The committee will need 6-8 volunteers for the morning of graduation. 
                  • The video will be played on repeat in the 8th grade Flex classes and parents will be sent a link to the video.
                  • The buses for the 8th grade outing have been reserved and paid for by LMS.
                  • Frosty Treats will be here from 2-3pm for the 8th graders.

 

7. Principals Report-Melissa Corcoran

            • There will be a retirement reception on 5/16 from 3-4pm to celebrate the retirements of Colleen Rumbaugh and Brett Jones. 
            • Staffing updates.
            • A BIG Thank YOU for all of the love from the Staff Appreciation committee!
